We had a severe (-2 or -3) frost late in May and this took the tops off the potatos but those that were under the apple tree were not affected. So tree shelter is useful for protecting tender crops when they are first outside.
This is another good argument for mixing trees with land used for vegetable growth.

Bread Making
Do not allow it to over-rise as it becomes too sticky and does not rise properly the next time.
Flour the tins before you put the loaves in or they might stick!
